Greetings!

Since time is our most valuable commodity, Coach Talk is changing formats.  To give you the most bang for your time, we've decided to design our communication with you "short and sweet."  We will continue to strive to inspire and challenge you, as well as offer valuable tools.  We hope to accomplish our mission in 2 minutes or less.  Each Coach Talk will be written by one of our coaches:  me (Bill), Kris or Alan.

Enjoy, and please let us know how we're doing!

As I sit here, wanting to share a coaching thought, I realize my brain seems blank.  No ideas are coming, and I'm feeling like I don't have anything to say.  Which is weird, because I usually do!

So that got me to thinking about monkey mind (your inner critic or censor), and the idea of being willing verses wanting.  My monkey mind may try to convince me that I don't have anything to share, and yet I know rationally that is not true.  This leads me into a monkey mind fit that says I don't want to write a coaching thought today.  And this puts me into what I think of as the spin cycle of getting nowhere.

Not wanting to do something is the domain of monkey mind.  However, the real question is am I willing to write my coaching thought despite not wanting to?  The answer is yes. I am willing to write this, because it supports my life's intention of being a successful coach.

Making this willing vs. wanting distinction is powerful, as is recognizing how influential monkey mind can be.  Today, ask yourself where your monkey mind might be keeping you from moving forward because you don't want to do something, and see if you can shift to being willing to do it anyway.  What action will you take today?
